Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers enjoying a well-deserved break
Celebrating birthdays each month!
The volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul are just that -- volunteers.
They are not paid in cash or in merchandise. They are here because
they believe in the work that St. Vincent does and they want to help
provide assistance to the needy people in the Fox Valley.
In consideration for their service, volunteers do get a discount on clothing
purchased from the store. The discount only applies to clothing, and does not
include clothing from the store's fashion area, the Smart
Shoppe.
There are other perks of course. For one thing, you get to meet and work with some
truly wonderful people. There's a lot of laughing and story-telling that
goes on among the volunteers.
Refreshments are provided too - nothing too elaborate, but soda, coffee and popcorn, along with a
variety of very tasty products provided by generous bakeries in
the area. Our thanks to
Manderfield's, Simple Simon, Atlanta Bread Company (West) and the Breadsmith.
There's an annual volunteer recognition dinner in the spring, when we take time to appreciate
the many contributions of our volunteers. In the fall, there's a dinner in combination
with our annual meeting, when we learn what the store operation has accomplished during the last year.
Other events are planned periodically, like a picnic or potluck lunch for a special occasion.
